熱媒加熱爐采用三煙道半濕背式設計。熱量通過燃燒器在爐膛內燃燒并以輻射熱和對流換熱的方式傳遞給熱媒，載熱熱媒通過循環系統運送到熱用戶，在熱用戶換熱卸載后再循環回到熱媒爐加熱；如此往復以熱媒為載體實現熱量傳遞，膨脹罐、循環泵及控制系統為系統不可缺少的輔助設備。
